no i have a 91 justy and had the same problem the only difference is that mine is fuel injected it all depends on if the ignition wires on the distributer are correct so first try rearranging them if that doesn't work than loosen the two set screws on the top and the bottom of the distributer keep the car running then slowly twist the distributor back and forth until you hear the engine running smoothly then tighten the set screws and your good to go. Your timing is off in most cases, or your carburetor needs adjusting.
If it is backfiring the timing is set incorrectly or the spark plug wires are not connected in the correct order.
Your carburetor or timing needs to be set. Let a professional set it. Trust me, its worth the extra $$$.
Backfiring through the carburetor and no power would seem to be symptoms indicating a problem with your timing. Have the distributor checked.
The timing marks were probably not set right when the timing chain was changed. This will cause the timing to be off and can result in backfiring and loss of power.
advance the timing a little.
yes, backfiring is always due to ignition or timing problems. Backfiring through the carb can be a symptom of a lean condition.

Subaru Forester has a timing belt.
Backfiring through the carburetor on your 1999 Honda 400 Foreman can be caused by several issues. Common culprits include an overly rich fuel mixture, a clogged air filter, or a malfunctioning carburetor that’s not properly adjusting the fuel-air ratio. Additionally, timing issues or an exhaust leak can also lead to backfiring. Inspecting and tuning the carburetor, along with ensuring proper air and fuel flow, can help resolve the problem.
