Water coming out between the muffler and exhaust manifold can be attributed to condensation from the exhaust gases. When the engine is cold, water vapor produced during combustion can condense in the exhaust system, especially in cooler temperatures. Additionally, if there's a leak in the exhaust system or if the muffler is corroded, it can allow the accumulated condensation to escape as liquid water. This is generally normal, but persistent leaks or excessive water could indicate a problem.
on a 97 you should have four sensors and they are located on the exuast one on each down pipe one right before your exuast comes together and one right after it comes together
Some Civic have 2 Oxygen sensors both located on the exuast manifold.First is located about 6-10" below where the exaust manifold comes from the front of the engine. Find the proper metric wrench (Only when the engine is cool) unplug the wire to the sensor and turn in a LEFT turn direction.Second sensor if equipped is on the exuast pipe under the cab of the car.Same as above applies. dude i would always get the manifold shield off first then run the car to heat the manifold off cus it will expand the metal to make the sensor easier to remove.....
No heavy water in the muffler.
You are having a cylinder missfire. take your car to a shop for a tune up.
Unscrew the screw at the bottom of the muffler. Then take a hammer and a flat head screw driver and hit the muffler head until it comes out. Otherwise call a mechanic.
Your bad muffler might be part of the reason your check engine light comes on. Usually, your bad muffler causes something else to go wrong and that causes your check engine light to come on. Problems cascade.
blown head gasket much?
it means that your timing belt needs to be changed.
The tube under a car is two things: 1. The exhaust pipe comes from the engine to the muffler, and 2. The tail pipe goes from the muffler to the rear (usually) of the vehicle.
I paid a total of 580 Canadian dollars. They had to do some complicated cutting and installing when attaching the muffler. The muffler cost just over 300, but tax, labor and an extra part really killed my wallet. A muffler with a hole in it will usually cost you lots in gas and you can fail your emissions test. An awful expense when it comes to older cars.
If a clamp comes off the muffler, first ensure the vehicle is parked safely and the engine is turned off. Inspect the muffler and the exhaust pipe for damage or rust, then reattach the clamp securely, tightening it with a wrench. If the clamp is damaged or missing, replace it with a new one suitable for your vehicle. If you're unsure or the issue seems complex, consider seeking professional assistance from a mechanic.
The smoke from your muffler has a smell because what is coming out of the muffler is the products of the incomplete combustion of your fuel. Some of those products are gases and vapors that have color and some are dark but small particles - that is what you call smoke. But some of what comes out are various chemicals that your nose detects as odors.
