Although it is only a 6-cylinder, a number of factors determine your gas mileage. 4x4 hurts it quite a bit, as well as just the fact that it is a truck and probably has a gear ratio of 3.73 or maybe even higher. That being said, your mpg should be a little higher though, perhaps chaning the air filter a spark plugs would be an inexpensive way to help. I have the same truck except minus the 4X4 and i usually get 16 mpg i think its just the size engine. i recently put on a K&N intake and flowmaster so if i take it easy i can get 17 or 18 out of it. i used to drive a 3.0 and only got maybe 20 out of it so for the extra horsepower in the 4.0 i think its worth it
