Because the car has a full tank of gas.
Hold down on the d-pad.
you need to change the fuel pump shut down relay
If all the connections and wiring look good, it is probably the fuel gauge sending unit in the fuel tank.
AnswerHave you checked the fluids (e.g. oil, coolant, transmission fluid)? When the car is working harder--as in driving faster-- it generates more heat. The car sheds heat through its fluids. If the fluids are full then it sounds like the coolant is restructed. Take it to a radiator shop.

You need a new fuel pump
i have a 1990 ford ranger and my fule gauge always reads full, why?
My 2000 GLS does the same thing. When I fill it it reads full for a few moments then goes to straight to empty. If I am going down the road I can shift into neutral shut the motor off and restart but the gauge does the exact same thing again. I was told it was the sending unit but have not fixed it yet. The guage works fine after some driving and the needle comes off full.
That is good, are they highway miles? The needle does go a little above the "Full" mark when you top it off. It now should start going down as you drive more.
With the Freon and gauge connected to the low side ac port, start the engine. Turn ac on high, and add Freon till the gauge shows full.
The sending unit in the gas tank is bad.
that changes depending on your driving style, the terrain, your speed, the condition of the engine, and other factors. it is hard to gauge
