If the display is blank, use/get a torch, and see if the her are numbers there that are just not visible without illumination. IF you can read it this way, the bulb has blown.

If the display shows - - - - - check the owners hand-book for the fuse location, and remove the fuse for the instrument, count to 20, and replace the fuse.

If neither of the above help, the dashboard is probably faulty, and will probably require replacement.
