either your oil pump screen is clogged or you need a new pump
the pressure of oil that the oil pump is pulling?
Your car or truck will begin losing pressure(meaning you will not be able to drive forward in a normal speed)
no, however the fuel pump has a secondary route through the oil pressure switch. If the fuel pump relay goes out the pump will run through the oil pressure switch after the engine gets oil pressure. this results in extended engine cranking time before the engine will start
Low oil pressure or fluctuating oil pressure.
Plugged filter, worn bearings, low oil level,.....................
The oil pressure is dropping at this time. A clogged oil filter, clogged oil pump screen or failing oil pump can be the cause.
It is built into the oil pump/ Part of the oil pump.
Check the oil filter for a clog. The oil pump screen could be clogged or the pump could be starting to fail.
If you have oil pressure it is working.
Zero oil pressure.
Loss of oil pressure.
What happens first? Pressure/Engine Dying? Has the oil always been changed? If not oil will form sludge, when the oil is finally changed, the detergent in the new oil breaks free the sludge which can get sucked into the oil pump intake. this would cause an immediate loss of oil pressure and engine issues. Thats been my experience with sudden oil pressure loss issues. Dan
