it is Likely that an error was made or there is a failed or damaged part in the system.

I have seen all the following failures in order of probability:

  • The brake pads are reversed inside for outside
  • one or more of the brake calipers seized from a build up of crud inside when compressed to fit the new pads
  • The caliper was put back on incorrectly and when the wheel was bolted up the rotor is far enough off centre in relation to it locks up
  • During the repair the rubber hoses were damaged and will not allow the fluid to return to the master cylinder
  • The master cylinder was damaged or has become maladjusted during the repair. Old dirty fluid forced back through it will do this.
  • Dirty fluid was forced into the anti lock brake pump and it is causing the problem.
  • The wheels were changed position on the car and there is specific front and rear wheels.
