Fuel starvation is a likely possibility, fuel starvation is from a clogged fuel filter or fuel pump that is bad.
Also if the vehicle had previously ran out of gas that could also add to possibility of fuel starvation, reason being some residual air left in the fuel lines, in this case it would be temporary and will go away on it's own. Fill fuel tank to full capacity. SLV
