Replace the fuel filter & air filter. If you have never replaced the spark plugs, do so.
Need to check or replace the ingnition module in the Distributor.
If the motor is the same the wiring harness should fit. Only thing I would check is the sending units. As long as both vehicles have gauges or both have warning lights all should be fine.
You may have a blown fuse or a wire loose. Check these things to see if that is the problem.
Press schrader valve. If no fuel is there check fuse,
YES but you MUST use an OBD2 engine scanner to do it. But if there is NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON then there is NO need to set the timing. It is computer controlled.
try 5 quarts then start it. then stop the motor. check the oil stick on side of motor, it should be the color yellow. it will tell you if it needs more or it might be good

The ECU may be creating a short circuit. Check the ECU on the 1987 Chevy Blazer and make sure it is expelling to correct amount of safe voltage. If not the computer should be replaced.
Check your starter, and all power connections.
Has the rad ever been flushed? Try that if there is no indication of water pump failure (leaking or venting coolant from pump.)
If a Chevy Cavalier cigarette lighter doesn't work, check the fuse. The fuse may be blown and will need replaced.
I have 91 chevy k1500, It does this, Sometimes it will idle a few minutes, then jump to high idle and check engine light comes on, And sometimes its as soon as i start the engine... I was told it was a vacum leak, But im no mechanic
