Sounds like a possible crank and/or cam sensor or ignition coil pack issue. might also be fuel filter/pump issue too.
with jumper cables..... once again im not a mechanic , this is just a guess.

security lock out had same problem with our 2004 grand am

A faulty alternator will cause those symptoms. You might want to get t checked out.
Note what you theflt light is doing, then ask this question again. Also, consider tapping lightly on the accelerator pedal as you sart the car.
I've had the same problem with my car not starting after its ran out of gas. I've found that with my 01 Pontiac Grand Am that I have to have at least 4 gallons of gas in my car for it to start after its ran out of gas.
