What is the cause of stall and surge in compressor?

stall and surge is caused when the flow in the compressor loses enthalpy and static energy so that it does not have enough power to approach the end of the axis; thus it remains in the annolus of the compressor and creates a stall cell. these cells gradually join each other and create stall zones which are rotating about the axis and are some times called rotating stall. if this stage does not get stopped, the stall cells will cover the whole annolus and will stop the fluid flow through the stages of the compressor and finally lead to surge. if surge happens, the compressor will be out of order.

What is compressor stall about wing?

Compressor stall and a wing stall are different and unrelated. Compressor stall refers to the compressor section of a jet engine. The compressor section is comprised of several spinning round discs attached to a shaft that runs through the engine. Blades attached to each disc compress the intake air, which is later mixed with fuel and burned in the combustion chamber. If the intake flow of air is disrupted, compressor stall can occur, allowing high pressure gasses to move forward through the engine, making a loud banging noise. Compressor stalls are usually momentary and do not cause any damage or significant reduction in power. A wing stalls when the angle between the chord of the wing and the relative wind becomes excessive and the airflow over the top of the wing is disrupted. The disruption results in a sudden loss of lift and the aircraft will descend and may become uncontrollable.

Can wrong valve clearance cause the engine to stall?

If the valves are incorrectly adjusted it will hurt performance.

What is a compressor stall and surge in a jet engine?

A compressor stall occurs when there is a disruption to the flow of air in the engine compressor. A jet engine is driven by pulling large volumes of air into the inlet. Some of this air is bypassed around the engine core, and some enters the core. Air that enters the core is compressed considerably in stages (compressed more and more as air travels toward the back) before it is mixed with fuel, ignites, and expands out the rear of the engine. A compressor stall occurs when the pressure of air entering the engine drops below the pressure in the compressor or air within the compressor drops momentarily as a result of stalling air (disruption in air pressure). When this happens the compressed air expands and travels toward the area of less pressure (toward the front and out the back). This happens quite fast and can be explosive. In fact, many people who are lucky enough to be on a plane when a compressor stall occurs may first believe a bomb went off. When a compressor stalls momentarily (often goes unnoticed by pilots or passengers) this is known as a compressor stall. An engine surge occurs when the compressor completely looses compression and the explosive effect is herd. Compressor stalls and surges where more prominent in older jet engines. Fortunately, compressor stalls or surges are extremely rare, and don't cause harm to the engine or plane. A compressor stall often will correct itself as soon as the flow of air in the engine is restored. Often times the corrective action by the pilots is to reduce engine power till the engine stabilizes. Today, with the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD), improved engine design and understanding this problem has virtually vanished.

Why would a 94 Accord EXi stall when the AC starts?

The compressor sounds like it is burned out. When the AC is put on, the compressor starts to cycle driven by either a belt or serpentine belt. If it is malfunctioning it will actually stall the motor. Thanks for your response... How ever my compressor in working perfectly fine...I already solved my problem... I just clean the IAC Valve terminals and when I try to start my car and turn the A/C on, wala...! My car Stall no more... hope this will help others.... thanks guys... till next time..

On a Dodge Ram 3500 diesel why would it want to stall when ac is put on?

Your truck may have the idle to low or the compressor might have some problems

Why could a turbocharger be surging?

Compressor surge is when the air pressure after the compressor is actually higher than what the compressor itself can physically maintain. This condition causes the airflow in the compressor wheel to back up, build pressure, and sometimes stall. Common conditions that result in compressor surge on turbocharger gasoline engines are: * A compressor bypass valve is not integrated into the intake plumbing between the compressor outlet and throttle body * The outlet plumbing for the bypass valve is too small or restrictive * The turbo is too big for the application
