place a rag or a towel over the waxed area and set an iron on the rag for about 20 seconds-- this will heat the wax enough for you to wipe it up.
Answer
If you are trying to remove old wax from the floor, you would use ammonia in a bucket of water. This is what we used back in the day. There may also be commercial removers that you can buy from a hardware store.
You could try using a hair dryer to melt it and then wipe it up.
Linoleum floors turn yellow because of over waxing or wax build up. The old yellow wax will have to be stripped off using a wax stripper. Janitor services do this all the time. After it has been stripped off put a light coat of wax on the floor and it will almost look like new.Using an alkaline product can cause linoluem to yellow.

Wax on, Wax off is how Mr. Myagi taught Daniel how to do a circle block. The block is one of the cornerstones of Okinawa karate.
A good little trick is to use a brown paper grocery bag and a hand towel and a clothes iron (set to low heat.) Place the bag over the wax, place the towel over the bag and iron the towel, check the wax several times as you only want to heat the wax to a melting point where the brown paper will absorb the wax. NOTE:Assure the iron is set to low, prolonged high heat will loosen the linoleum or discolor it. Work fast and use the least heat possible.

To efficiently remove linoleum flooring from your kitchen, start by cutting the linoleum into manageable sections with a utility knife. Then, use a heat gun or hairdryer to soften the adhesive underneath the linoleum. Once softened, carefully peel off the linoleum and adhesive. Finally, clean the subfloor with a scraper and adhesive remover to ensure a smooth surface for new flooring.
The most effective method for removing linoleum adhesive is to use a linoleum adhesive remover. Apply the remover according to the product instructions, allow it to penetrate the adhesive, and then scrape off the softened adhesive with a putty knife or scraper.
