Unless you are in the business of what you are doing yourself, I would not recommend 'creating' an invoice. I would recommend being upfront with them and providing any receipts you have for materials and see if and what they are willing to do for your time spent making the repairs. You may find out that it is worth it just to hire someone as they don't typically feel that your time is worth much money!

As a contractor if I turn in a final bill to an insurance company and it states that I paid the homeowners deductible, portion of deductible or gave them a sign allowance for putting a sign in their yard ( this is thought of as a clever way to hide the payment of the deductible), the insurance company will reduce the final payment by that amount. If you leave it off of the invoice it does not honestly show the expenses.
