Locking-up your brakes is almost never a good idea except in this situation.
If you find yourself sliding and you're on loose gravel or dirt or even snow, Lock-Up your brakes! This will create a build-up of stuff under your tires and stop you faster.
But you're at the mercy of the law of physics. Whichever way you were heading before mashing on your brakes is the same direction you're going to continue until you stop or let off of the brakes allowing your tires to get traction again.
If you are sliding down the hill on a sled, you are sledding.

Hill Decent Control. Selected when you have to decend down a very steep hill with loose or uneven surface. This will engage the ABS system to assist with the decent preventing locking of the wheels under braking to avoid sliding down the hill uncontrolably to certain damage.
The cause of the rock tumbling down a hill is gravity pulling it downward. The effect is the rock rolling or sliding down the hill due to the force of gravity acting on it.
Friction is the force that allows you to walk up a hill without sliding back down. The friction between your feet and the surface of the hill provides the necessary grip to overcome gravity and maintain your position.
Sometimes used for swimming or used for sliding down hill instead of waddling down the hill because of the chance of falling :) hope I helped! :D
To increase the number of snowmen destroyed by the sled sliding down the hill, you could make the hill steeper, place more snowmen in the sled's path, or increase the speed of the sled. Additionally, you could add obstacles or ramps to the hill to cause more collisions and destruction.
Friction acts in the opposite direction to the direction of the sliding motion. In the case of an object rolling down a hill, the friction force would act against the direction of the object's motion, trying to slow it down or prevent it from sliding further.
The force stopping an object from rolling down a hill is friction. Friction occurs between the object and the surface of the hill, creating a resistance that opposes the object's motion. It is this frictional force that prevents the object from sliding or rolling down the hill uncontrollably.
Being sure the foundation is up to code.
