They all pull straight out. Some have a nut holding them in. Some have a U clip holding them. They can stick sometimes in hard water areas.

What is a mixer valve and how do you repair it?

Any faucet or control that mixes the hot and cold water before it comes out of the spout is a mixer valve. It is usually reserved for a shower control. They will vary in how to fix them. Some you replace rubber seals and gaskets, some you replace a cartridge. It is really no different than a kitchen faucet in the way it is put together. All of them you take the handle or handles off, then the trim plate and then you have access to the valve. Some are screwed in and some are held in with a clip that locks the cartridge in the body of the control. With the water turned off, taking it apart one step and layer at a time, laying out the pieces as they come off, it shouldn't be a problem fixing it. I believe this is true, if the valve screws in, it will probably have rubber seals that can be replaced. If the cartridge is held in with a clip, you replace the entire cartridge.

Why is your hot water in the bath tub not as hot as the rest of the faucets in the house?

it runs out of hot water My water is not hot enough for a decent bath I tried to clean out the pipes, correcting the pressure and none of this worked. If there is too much water flow for some reason the water will only go warm. What I done was I turned my hot tap on half way and now my water becomes really hot. As soon as I turn my hot tap all the way it becomes warm again. So I do not turn my hot tap all the way, it may take a little longer to fill my bath but I can now enjoy it really hot once again. If this does not work I am afraid the plumber is needed.

How do you fix Moen 7590 single faucet How do you remove cartridge from Moen faucet?

I just replaced mine. I would recommend buying the Moen original valve, #1225. I paid $20 at HomeDepot. The factory valve has a tool that help you remove the valve. The tool is a plastic cap that fits on top of the valve and lets you rotate it back an forth to loosen it. The trick is that you need to remove the retainer clip (1883) first. Remember the order of the parts. It can be tricky. Make sure the hot and cold are correct. Just take the handle off again and rotate the valve. See the link below for a drawing of the assembly from Moen. Stevegto; I want to thank you for your helpful answer. It took me 20 minutes to replace the cartridge. My problem was the valve would not turn off upon pressing down on the handle. To turn off the faucet you had to press down on the center of the unit and not use the handle. Replacing this worked great. I did find locating the retaining clip was a challenge as it was the same color as the unit itself. Once I removed that, the unit came out easily. OF course the plastic cap included did help me move the cartridge back and forth as you mentioned.

How do you correct water faucet handles that are on when in the outward position?

I assume the handles are the quarter turn type. If you turn the into the bowl to shut them off, it may be that the handles are just set on the stems wrong. If this is not the case, the cartridge in each side is in backwards. Shut the water off, take the handle off and the ring under the handle that holds the cartridge in. Pull straight up on the stem, pulling the cartridge out and rotate the whole cartridge 180 degrees and reinstall. There should be two small notches in the body of the faucet that line up with bumps on the cartridge.
