The difference between increasing the horsepower by advancing the timing, and advancing the timing to where it causes severe pre-ignition and engine damage is so slight it isn't worth considering. As an "increasing horsepower" idea, it is best left at the starting gate.
rumored to be 325hp and can get more by timing and exhaust. rumored to be 325hp and can get more by timing and exhaust.
By advancing or retarding the spark.
300 horsepower ------------------------------------------------------------------- 300 horsepower for 2004 and up F150's with the 5.4 L 3V with the variable camshaft timing 260 horsepower for 2003 , 2002 , 2001 250 horsepower for 1999 ( and 2000 ? ) 235 horsepower for 1998 ( and 1997 ? ) I'll try to fill in the missing years
if advancing more than factory specs it can cause pre ignition (spark knock) that in turn can cause internal engine damage
10 horsepower or less
best guess would be 25 horsepower.more with timing advance.maybe 35.
