Any major brand is good. Use the exact weight as recommended in your owner's manual. I would guess that would be 5w20. Look and see or call a Mercedes dealer to be sure. The recommended type is Mobil 1 0W/40W fully synthetic - MB have been using that on mine for the past 7 years. It might vary slightly but fully synthetic is best and Mobil 1 is endorsed by MB.
Hi, No the Mercedes A140 engine does not have a timing/cam belt as it uses a chain
starter lockout relay in mercedes benz a140 location ?
I need cover fuse box or diagram for Mercedes A140 1997
Read the drivers hand book or car manual. It is easy to do.
The Mercedes A140 is equipped with a timing chain rather than a cambelt (timing belt). Timing chains generally require less frequent replacement compared to timing belts, as they are designed to last the lifetime of the engine under normal conditions. However, regular maintenance checks are still recommended to ensure proper functioning.
its located inside the fuel tank

when i get out of my car and lock it the lights flash 3 times but there is no red light flashing ca anyone help
Hi, did you ever find out why your A140 reverse light always stay on even in other gears, I have the same issue, i have checked the bulbs, replaced the reverse light switch and still have them always on..
To reset the service indicator light on a Mercedes-Benz A140, first, turn the ignition key to position 2 (without starting the engine). Then, press the gas pedal fully three times within 10 seconds. After that, turn the ignition off and then back on to check if the light has reset. If the light remains on, you may need to repeat the process or consult the vehicle’s manual for specific instructions.
Beeping or blinking lights indicate a problem within a car. In order to get the lights to stop, a person must fix the problem.
Press the lock or unlock button on the remote key twice. Then, within 30 seconds, insert the key in and turn in the ignition position (II). Good Luck!!
