Sometimes this happens when people hit speed bumps to fast or curbs to much. what it could be is a ball joint or tie rod messed up, rim can be bent, or if you had gotten new tires and not have had them balance can cause many problems. spending the extra ten bucks on balancing tires can save thousands of dollars in gas, wear and tear.
when you drive if you let your steering wheel go will it stay straight? best thing to do is go to a place that will inspect for free but go to more than just 2 places. There are plenty of forums out there of all make and models that people go on to get help and help others share pics and what not. check those out and pick their brains about your car. maybe its something that only your car would do , special recall on a part, etc. etc.
best thing to do is look for yourself and go and touch parts to see if they are broken, falling off, rotting apart, etc. dont be too force full on them but be firm.
hopefully this helps.

check your power steering fluid
The cornea
You may not have enough steering fluid?
It will feel like something is rubbing, typically felt in the gas and brake pedals. It will sometimes grind and pull the steering wheel. Good luck
You probably have a build up of contaminated grease in you steering wheel column. You have to open up the panel under the steering wheel to take out the pieces to clean the grease off with rubbing alcohol or something of the sort. The grease are creating a bridge and causing a short. That is why you smell the burning.
what palates are causing stramboli volcano to form
you may have the wrong sized tire on . ie.. to large or one size to large in height causing the tire to rub the wheel well. check with the dealer to see what size it should be.
Check the motor mounts, frame and steering components to see what is damaged or bent. See if the idler arm is installed properly and is not oriented wrong, and DON'T drive the vehicle until you solve the problem.
if u put wider aftermarket tires on then the tires are rubbing on the fender wheel well if you are refering to in/at the actual steering wheel, then some grinding noise is normal. it's possible the electrical contacts for airbag/cruise/radio controls, whatever you have on the steering wheel are making some grinding noise.
yes
Hey Bo==It depends on what you are driving. Evidentally the tire is rubbing something like maybe a splash shield in the wheel opening. Stop the car when it starts making the noise and don't streighten the wheels and get out and see what is rubbing. Good luckJoe It's your steering pump loose belt or low on fluid.
Rubbing salt on skin can make it tougher by drawing out moisture and causing irritation, which can lead to thicker skin over time.
