In Finland the prosecution is allowed to take into account your income when awarding fines; Jussi Salonoja was issued a 170,000 euro speeding ticket for doing 80km/hr in a 40 km/hr zone. Now as for the fastest speed ever recorded on a speeding ticket...in 2003, there was a race called the Gumball 3000 which ran from California to Florida. One of the events was for charity. They brought a Texas highway patrol car out to a stretch of road and clocked each driver over a closed course--one where no other cars were. A "speeding ticket" was awarded to each driver, and the "fine" was paid to charity. Some maniac in a Koenigsegg CCX went 242mph. They had to have calculated this one by time over distance because radar guns don't go that high.
