It depends on which way your car is sliding. If your car's back end slides to the right, you'll want to turn your steering wheel to the right. Same basic principle the other way. Car slides left, turn your wheel left. Eventually it should straighten out so you can regain control of the car.
you hold your steering wheel pointing as straight forward as possible, unless the car is sliding sideways, in that case you steer into the turn, which means if the back of your car is sliding to the right then you turn your steering wheel to the right. No sudden breaking or accelerating, just be as smooth on the throttle as possible.

The input force on a steering wheel is applied by the driver's hands as they turn the wheel. The output force from the steering wheel is then transmitted through the steering system to the tires, which ultimately turn the vehicle in the desired direction.
Try pulling on the steering wheel one way or the other while you turn the key.
The power steering fluid is thicker when cold therefore it is harder to turn the wheel.
Power steering fluid helps your steering wheel turn easily. If you have dirty power steering fluid, it may be hard to turn your steering wheel while driving.
Check the fluid in the power steering. If it is low the car will make noise when you turn the wheel.
