Try this:
Next time you want to start the engine turn the key to the ON position for a couple seconds. It won't take long. You should hear the faint hum from the fuel pump in the tank. Turn the key off then immediately try to start the engine. Do that for a few mornings and if it consistently starts on the first try, you probably have a regulator that's leaking down. It's not a problem unless it leaks to the OUTSIDE. You have to decide how important it is to pay for the repairs.
If that doesn't give you any help, try connecting it to a computer diagnostic code reader.
If it cranks, first confirm spark present
it could possibly be a bad coil, crank shaft sensor, or cam shaft sensor.
Had the same problem with my 95 Town Car. Paid almost $800 to mechanics (new fuel pump, and another expensive repair) but didn't solve the problem. Fix was a $6 plug in part from Auto Zone: fuel pump relay. Car has started every time for almost 2 years since that part was changed. As simple as plugging in your toaster.
do you mean it cranks, but will not start?
1989 ford F250 Fuel Problems, It cranks but wont start
Yes
how does it stall if it wont start?
Cranks is the motor turning over, But cranks and won't start means either you no fuel or no spark or both.
An engine which cranks but will not start is not receiving enough fuel or has no spark. A clogged fuel filter or bad spark plugs often cause this problem.
producers: grass and other plants
its not your ignition its your crankshaft sensor that's the same problem i had.
If it just cranks and cranks and cranks then it's likely fuel pump. If it died and it won't turn over anymore, likely alternator.
