batteries are rated for cranking amps and cold cranking amps.. in warm or hot conditions your engine oil is also warm and not thick so your batteries do just fine.. now in cold weather conditions your engine oil is thick so your battery doesnt have the potential to crank the engine

Car won't start in cold weather?

If a car won't start in cold weather it is possible that the valve guides have been worn. This often happens in cars that have been using ethanol as a primary fuel.

Does it matter how many cold cranking amps a car battery has?

Yes, that is how you know that the battery is "strong" enough to start your car in cold weather. A battery in warm weather may have enough amps to start the car fine, but in cold weather, it wouldn't be able to crank it fast enough. A car battery efficiency drops off the colder it gets.

Will a bad starter cause your car to not start in cold weather?

Yes. I have a difficult time starting my car in cold weather. I took the car to the mechanic and he said that frost can cover the bad spots on the starter and this makes it hard to fire. While you attempt starting the vehicle multiple times a good spot is finally found on the starter and this is why you are finally able to start the car. On really cold days it has taken my car 15 to 20 minutes before I am finally able to start it. I hope this information is helpful.

When would you buy low viscosity oil for your car?

if it is really cold where you live, and the viscosity of the oil would be the optimal for your car at that cold outdoor temperature. i.e. as oil cools it is less viscus. Therefore, in colder climates normal oil becomes too thick in the cold weather to run optimally, so if you use less viscus oil you can compensate.

Is a car starter affected by cold weather?

Yes, cold weather can affect a car starter because the cold can make the engine oil thicker, reducing its flow and making it harder for the starter motor to turn over the engine. In extreme cold, the battery may also struggle to provide enough power to start the engine. It is important to take precautions such as using a block heater or keeping the battery charged to help prevent starting issues in cold weather.
