Rubbing alcohol is 70% isopropyl alcohol, so you wouldn't use it since it contains some water. Use 99% isopropyl alcohol instead.
To effectively remove water from a gas tank using alcohol, you can add a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to the tank. The alcohol will mix with the water and help it evaporate more quickly. It is important to only use a small amount of alcohol and to be cautious, as too much alcohol can damage the engine.
It has to be the right kind. Rubbing alcohol doesn't do anything. Pure alcohol can absorb like one fourth it's volume of water. That is basicly what the product Heat is. It get the water out of the tank and allows it to be burned with the gas. Rubbing Alcohol already has water in it and can't absorb any more.
No, putting rubbing alcohol in your gas tank can damage your engine and fuel system. Rubbing alcohol is not designed for use in vehicles and can cause serious harm to your car's components. It is best to stick to using the recommended fuel for your vehicle.
how much water a lot or a little if a little add rubbing alcohol with a tank of gas a lot have the tank drained and a bottle on the first fill up alcohol wil mix with gas where gas dose not mix with water and this is the main thing in all the expensive fuel drys
Wash it first with alcohol, and then with Dawn dish soap and let it dry completely
Add 1 bottle of ordinary rubbing alcohol to the tank. If The Bad gas is just gas that has water in it, then the alcohol will allow the water to "burn" with the gas. == == The best way to do it is kind of a pain. Take the tank off and dump the bad gas out. While the tanks off would be a good time to flush it out too. You can use a ordinary garden hose and siphone the gas out of the tank.
Depends on how much is in there, if just a little, put some rubbing alcohol in there and it will remove it as you drive, or you can try a siphon. if you really stuck a garden hose in there, i would take the fuel filter off and turn the key forward and let the fuel pump all the water out till you get down to gas. as you know gas flots on water, and the fuel pump sucks from the bottom of the tank, so it will suck water first, then gas. have fun If this is a power stroke and the water in fuel light is on their is a drain petcock located behind the fuel filter apparatus that will drain your water from the water seperator check your power stroke owners manual, the exact directions are there.Do this as soon as safely possible when light comes on you can perform this anywhere with no tools required.WARNING::: Rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl rubbing alcohol) same kind used for cuts, scrapes should not be put in to your fuel system at all,the active ingredient is 70%Isopropyl alcohol BUT the inactive ingredient is 30% WATER...so by placing as small bottle of rubbing alcohol into the fuel system you are also adding more WATER into the system....Isopropyl alcohol is a major ingredient in the "gas dryer"type fuel additives that are designed to remove water from the fuel system HOWEVER these gas dryer additives do not contain any water what so ever unlike common rubbing alcohol..By adding a 16oz bottle of common isopropyl rubbing alcohol(70%/30%) into the fuel system you are also adding 4.8 ounces of WATER.....which defeats the purpose since you are adding more water to the water you wish to remove in the first place..just spend the extra $1.25 and purchase the correct fuel additive.
all it will do is kill your engine if alot of it gets sucked up by your fuel pump, or else it will cause your exhaust to appear a little bit white until all of the water is burned off. but if you want to remove it, use seafoam which you can buy at schucks, napa, or autozone, or just put a bottle of rubbing alcohol into your gas tank and run it.
No, isopropyl alcohol in a gas tank cannot effectively eliminate water contamination.
no..it will burn up your valves and will probably blow your truck up.but i do recommend a capfull to a full tank once a month
remove the fuel tank and drain the water
poor as close to 100rubbing alchahal in it and wait a week this will cause the water to evaporate Actually, rubbing alcohol will do you no good. It already has water in it. The gas line antifreeze Heat or other gas dryer additives are alcohol without the water. The molecules of alcohol are big enough that they bond with the molecules of water and are burned with the gas. That is fine for small amounts of water. How much is in the tank. Some tanks have a drain plug in the bottom of them and since oil or gas floats on water you could get it out that way. The pick up tube is on the bottom of the tank also, so you could take the line loose from the fuel pump and siphon the water out that way.
