Five pounds (£5.oo).
The expression "5 and 6 pence" means "5 shillings and 6 pence", and refers to the monetary system used in Great Britain prior to decimalization in 1968. Under the "£sd" system (which stands for Pounds-Shillings-Pence), there were 12 pence to a shilling and 20 shillings to a pound. Thus "5 and 6 pence" would mean 5.5 shillings or 5.5/20ths of a pound - 27.5p in today's decimal terms. While shillings and the old style pence no longer circulate, 27.5p would be about 40 US cents as of mid-January 2010. The exchange rate has changed over time, however, and if you are asking as it relates to a historical period (where the exchange rate, currently about GBP1.00=US$1.60, may have been markedly different), you should probably look into the exchange rate at that time, as well as inflation or cost of living since that time, to get an equivalent real value.

You can't spend American currency in England. If you change it into British currency it's worth about 5 pence. How much is 5 pence
Before England decimalised the Pound, one shilling was worth one twentieth of a pound or 12 pence. Nowadays shillings aren't used, but it would be worth 5 pence of today's decimalised pound.
14 × 5 = 70 pence
A British 5 Pence in 1973 had the purchasing power of about £0.40 GBP today.
Such a coin does not exist. The British 5 New Pence coin was first issued in 1968.
A 5 pence coin weighs 3.25 grams. Therefore, £1 worth of 5 pence coins, which consists of 20 coins, would weigh 20 x 3.25 grams, totaling 65 grams.
At present, 5 pence British converts to 8 cents U.S.
The 5 pence coin is worth only around 8 cents in US currency, or 5 pence in the UK.
A five pence coin is worth 5 pence, and 7 pennies are worth 7 pence, making the total value 5 + 7 = 12 pence. Since each 2p coin is worth 2 pence, you can determine how many 2p coins equal 12 pence by dividing 12 by 2. Thus, 12 pence divided by 2 pence per coin equals 6. Therefore, 6 two-pence coins have the same value as 1 five pence coin and 7 pennies.
You do not specify which coin. The 1 and 2 New Pence coins are still potentially in circulation, so are worth 1 and 2 Pence respectively. The Half, 5, 10 and 50 New Pence coins have long since been withdrawn from circulation and demonetised. Unless they are in mint condition, they are worth little or nothing.
About 2 kroner (20 pence).
