A twin is made for one person and a double is made for two. A double is the same as a full...just different name. A twin is also known as a single (twin=single, full=double). I think they should have just stuck with a single and double...much easier to keep straight. A twin is for one person, really? How confusing!
As a side note, 2 Twin/Single XL's (4 inches longer) are equivalent to a King.
Single and Twin are common names given to the same mattress. 38 x 74
Mattress sizes are notoriously confusing, but in general, a "double" is significantly wider (as in, over a foot wider) than a twin and will not fit on a twin frame.
No, a twin mattress is not the same size as a full mattress. A standard twin mattress measures 38 inches wide by 75 inches long, while a full mattress (also known as a double) measures 54 inches wide by 75 inches long. The full mattress is wider, providing more sleeping space for individuals or couples.
A twin mattress is 75 inches long and 38 inches wide. This is smaller than a double bed, and is considered a bed for a child. Two adults would not fit on a twin size bed.
A standard twin mattress measures 38 inches wide by 75 inches long, while an XL twin mattress is slightly longer at 38 inches wide and 80 inches long. The additional length of the XL twin makes it a better option for taller individuals who need extra legroom. Overall, the width remains the same, but the XL twin offers more length for added comfort.

Yes. I did it all through freshman year in college. Twin comforters are bigger than the mattress to begin with, and the few extra inches that an extra long twin mattress has won't make that much of a difference.
Different mattress sizes include single, twin, double, queen, king, extended double, extra long twin, regular bunk bed, narrow bunk bed and super king.
