I am mixed race (Black and Caucasian) I had natural hair right until i was 12, after which i was tired of the struggle i faced combing my hair every morning i relaxed it.

When u start to relax it you need to continue to re-relax new growth every 2 months or so depending on how fast ur hair grows, if you don't, your hair begins to break, you also need to be careful to try and stick to the same relaxer and not change them too much, cause different relaxers do different things, some are stronger than others, in general relaxing the hair isn't bad but it needs to be continuous.

After a time they do become harmful to the hair. It is a chemical that enters the hair and changes the proteins inside of it. If the relaxer keeps being put on hair that has been chemically changed already it will make a bigger change on the protein and eventually the hair will just break off.
