You can indeed. A 20g stud is smaller (0.8mm) than an 18g stud (1.0mm) the only difficulty would be if you wore the 20g for a long time and then wished to go back to the 18g at which point the 18g would stretch your piercing slightly. However, even that would be such a small stretch that, while more difficult to push through, you should have no issues apart from some stinging.

If your navel is pierced what should you do if you get pregnant?

You can keep your navel piercing until you start to show, then see your local piercer and get a flexable barbell put into the piercing. It's call a PTFE barbell and it will allow for the piercing to stretch without tearing the piercing. However be sure you are getting a PTFE barbell and not some other material. PTFE is biocompatable and will be accepted by the body without issues, I have used these for hundreds of my clients without problems.

How long does it take a nostril nose piercing to heal?

A properly* done (*that would be done by an actual professional body piercer in a licensed and inspected facility) should have a light heal in about 4 to 6 weeks. A light heal doesn't mean completely healed. For the piercing to be considered completely healed ( often referred to as a "seasoned piercing") that would need to be a full year old from the time it was pierced. You can consider changing the jewellery in about 8 weeks, but if there are no healing issues and no real reason other than vanity provoking you to change the jewellery, it's best to just leave it alone and let it season up. Regardless of what others and the Internet tell you, the longer you leave the piercing without changing it the better. This is based on several thousand piercings I have conducted over the 18 years I have been piercing professionally.

What is the percentage of side effects for a cartilage piercing?

90% of professionally pierced ear cartilage piercings work out without any issues, these are piercings done by a professional body piercer using aseptic techniques. 70% of ear cartilage piercings done with a piercing gun in a mall or hair salon result in bumps, lumps and healing issues, these are piercings performed by untrained and unlicensed individuals using piercing guns on areas they are not permitted to pierce but they do it any way.

How do you wash a face with piercing on it?

Like you would without a piercing in it. You want to keep things like facial scrubs and skin treatments away from the piercing, these can cause issues for the piercing during the healing process.

How do you give urself a lip piercing?

Look up Body Piercing in the phone book and book an appointment. Only those who have little grey matter go around piercing themselves, leave it to a professional body piercer who will help you when you have issues with your piercing. Dont make a mess out of a lip that should be pierced properly the first time....

Does the septum get pierced through the cartilage?

No it doesn't get pierced through the cartilage. I actually had a woman come in with a septum piercing that was done by a so called "body mods artist", the piercing was done through the cartilage and was causing all sorts of issues for the lady. Piercing the cartilage is actually dangerous in that area and more subject to possible infection. The actual piercing is between the exteriour meatus and the physical cartilage, the web between these structures is only the thickness of a dime, this is the area the piercing should be placed. Any other location and the piercing is done incorrectly. Do your research and be sure your piercing is done by an actual "professional body piercer" working in a licensed and inspected facility (not a kitchen on a Saturday night).

How long will it take for me to remove my nose piercing to clean it?

You should clean your nose piercing with antibacterial (Dial) soap twice a day for the first week that you have it. After that first week, reduce cleaning to once a day. Be sure not to overclean as you can cause moderate to severe irritation to your piercing.

How long do piercings take to heal?

A word from a professional :No piercing is considered fully healed until it's a year old. Contrary to what you may read, it takes the body a full year to season a piercing to the point where it can be removed for extended periods of time without the risk of the piercing closing. Light heals can occur at the 3 month period but keep in mind the piercing can still close making reinserting the jewellery difficult and hard on the new piercing. Anything less than 3 months is just ridiculous and shear nonsense. Should you have issues reinserting your jewellery, go see your local professional body piercer for assistance. Don't force jewellery into a semi closed piercing, only an insertion taper will allow you to reinsert the jewellery without damaging the piercing. Jzuk

Do diabetics get their belly buttons pierced?

Well yes, they can and do, get there navels pierced. However when someone with diabetes wants to get piercing done it's a good idea to get their Doctor involved as well as a professional body piercer. Working in concert with the client and Doctor a professional body piercer and provide the client with a navel piercing and the aftercare is overseen by the client's Doctor to ensure the piercing is healing well. Diabetics have problems with blood sugar levels and keeping the sugar levels in check. If the sugars are not controlled properly this can cause issues with healing, that is why having the client's Doctor involved and informed as to the aftercare and the materials used for the piercing allows him/her to look after the client and help maintain a correct balance without risk to the client's over all health.

What jobs can you not get with your cartilage pierced?

Well I haven't heard of any jobs you can't get with your cartilage pierced. Piercings and employment is a hit or miss thing, some places don't have any problems with piercing and others do. So I guess it will be up to you to go out and find out who's hiring people with piercings and who won't and has issues with piercings. It is less about having a piercing then what you have in the piercing. If you don't wear anything in it at work, they aren't even going to know. Some places don't like them for sanitation reasons, others the image it give customers.
