When you straighten your hair using heat styling tools, the heat temporarily changes the hydrogen bonds in your hair and rearranges them into a straighter pattern. However, once your hair gets wet or is exposed to humidity, the hydrogen bonds return to their original state, causing your hair to revert back to its natural texture. This is why straightened hair doesn't stay straight permanently.
