A transvestite gets a sexual pleasure out of dressing as a woman. It's not the same as cross dressing which is basically just a type of style. It doesn't matter the sex. If you look up the actual definition of transvestite it is,

: a person and especially a male who adopts the dress and often the behavior typical of the opposite sex especially for purposes of emotional or sexual gratification.

: the wearing of clothes designed for the opposite sex.
