Is okay for there to be a bump under the skin right after you get a industrial piercing?

No. This is due to theprocedure of the piercing, needles can hang up once they pierce the cartilage and in doing so they can pull the pericondrial layer away from the cartilage thus leaving a lump. If the piercer spots this they can apply pressure to the tissue, this allows the pericondrial layer to reattach to the cartilage. New industrial piercings should if at all possible, not be moved for a few hours post piercing to allow the exit points to settle and reattach to the cartilage. Once a lump has formed at an exit point it's hard to get it to reattach to the cartilage if it's left too long.

Its most likely hypertrophic scarring. After your regular cleaning, dab a little bit of tea tree oil on the bump. Dont put it inside the piercing. The tea tree oil will dry up the bump and it'll peel off in layers. Apply the TTO once a day every day, cut back if its too drying. If it doesnt help, you may just be hitting the piercing too much. things like glasses irritate the area and cause the hypertrophic scarring.

Don't overload on the oil because it'll dry the piercing out. Try your best to get it on the bump and not on or in the piercing.

You don't want it to go inside the piercing, just on the bump. The oil will dry out the bump and it'll start flaking off in layers. If the tea tree oil doesn't affect it, it could be the jewelry. Especially if its a ring and gets hit often.
