Sulfates are soaps which are not found in hair color. They are found however, in many shampoos.
Redken Color Gels developer is formulated specifically for Gels, but using any developer will still work.
With Redken Color Gels, the color should process on gray hair for about 45-60 minutes.

Mix Redken Color Gels with Redken Color Gels developer in equal parts. The gels can be applied with a bottle or bowl and brush method. Apply from roots to ends and comb through if this is the first time hair has been colored. For re-growth, only apply color to that area. Process 30-45 minutes. Do not use heat.
To use Redken Color Gels, mix the color according to the manufacturer's instructions with the corresponding developer. Apply the color mixture to dry, unwashed hair following the recommended processing time. Rinse thoroughly and style as desired.
It's not recommended to mix Redken Color Gels with a different brand of developer, as the formulas may not be compatible. Using the specific developer designed for Redken products ensures optimal results, including color vibrancy and longevity. Mixing brands can lead to unpredictable outcomes, such as uneven color or compromised hair health. For the best results, always use the developer specified by the manufacturer.
Redken hair gel dye should be applied to dry hair. Wet hair can dilute the product and affect the dyeing process. It is recommended to follow the specific instructions provided by Redken for best results.

Redken Color Gels mixing ration is 1:1...however, if you're not a professional, you should steer clear of professional products. But if you are...that's my favorite permanent color line, I'm very picky and have been extremely pleased. A note of advice about Color Gels...since they're created for coverage they have a LOT of pigmentation. Therefore, on MOST people, they turn out a little darker...like 1-2 shades. Also, DONT USE HEAT.
Oh, what a happy little question! You can use 20 volume developer with Redken Shades EQ color Gloss, but it's typically recommended to use 10 volume for deposit-only color like Shades EQ. Using a higher volume developer may lift the natural hair color slightly, so be mindful of that. Just remember to trust your instincts and enjoy the process of creating beautiful hair colors!
