Shellac is not completely waterproof; it's more water-resistant. While it can withstand some moisture, prolonged exposure to water can cause it to break down or become cloudy. For projects requiring full waterproofing, it’s better to use a polyurethane or epoxy finish. Proper sealing and maintenance can enhance its durability against moisture.
