Considerably.

Pain tolerance isn't the factor at hand though. The piercer will count to three and there won't be anything you can do, except get over it. Just mind over matter.

When I got mine done, the needle going through can best be described as a jolt of pain but immediately after, my brain released some sort of neurochemical as what I can only guess to be a self-defense mechanism of some kind. It definitely took my mind off of any pain I may have been feeling. My face, chest, and hands all became very tingly and my facial muscles seized up. The sensation was an incredible body high; unlike anything I've ever experienced. My piercer said he hadn't ever seen anyone with a reaction to the extent of mine (which freaked me out at the time because I could hardly talk) but I ended up being fine. 30 minutes later my face finally relaxed and I was out the door feeling great with a ton of endorphins coursing through me.
