When you are pregnant, your baby and you both share blood. By getting a tattoo, you put yourself at risk for contracting blood born pathogens like hepatitis B and HIV/AIDS. These can easily spread to your child. Even though an environment may appear clean, you never know the extent to which supplies and tools have been sanitized. If you want a tattoo on your body for the rest of your life, you can wait a couple months (or longer if you choose to breastfeed) to get it. Put your baby's health first, just wait.
