What age should a boy get there ear pierced?

As a parent, you can have this done whenever you want. However, I personally think ear piercing should be a decision made by a teenage girl on her (or by a boy on his own) rather than by a parent imposing this decision on a helpless child.

They usually have to be 8 weeks or older.

Any age from 8 onwards is fine, 7 in some cases, but the ideal age is probably twelve, thirteen or fourteen. They can have one ear pierced or two, but must wear a stud for six weeks. There is no age restriction on ear piercing, so long as you have parental consent.

Whether it's safe or not - why should you?

The baby won't have a clue to what you're doing and will just see it as a surprise pain. Why would you want to do that to your child?

Also, early exposure to impure metals is thought to increase the risk of the child developing nickel Allergies.

You can have a child ears pierced as young as 6 months. This is actually a good age because they will leave it alone while it is healing and they will be used to it because it will always have been there. I had my daughters done at 6 months (I was sick of people calling her a boy, so I got the pinkest most girly earrings I could find) and she only cried for a few seconds and mostly because they only had one person working so we couldn't do both sides at once and it scared her. My husband has his ear done also and if my son who is 6 wants his done he is more then welcome but I offered when we had my daughters done and he declined. I think he will ask in a few years and I will take him. My point is it is all personal choice when to do it. My daughter loves her earnings but sometimes I think I should have given her the same option to choose as I did my son but I know she would have had it done anyways. When the kids are ready they are ready.

About 9 months. Get it done and over with.Be sure to go to an actual piercer that doesn't use a gun. Too many people are getting their babies' ears pierced with guns.
