Well that's always a hard look but I have a few friends like that and when the flat iron it it makes their hair and face look bad so I would try cutting your hair a little higher then shoulder length and put in tons of layers.
I agree with the short cut but I have very thin hair too and if you layer thin hair too much it makes it look even WORSE so, unfortunately, I learned the hard way. DO NOT LAYER.
