What home remedies can be used for dogs with dry skin?

Sometimes the food you are feeding your dog can give it dry skin. try cooked rice and lots of raw fruits and veggies. that helped my dogs skin get healthier ,and get dry less often.if that doesnt work, maybe your dog needs to be groomed more often.

We give our dog Benadryl, the little pink pills, one half caplet for our 17 pound dog, twice a day. You'd probably want to ask your vet about that before you started giving your dog pills, though. Some types of fish oil are good for this, you can find a few kinds in pet stores, either capsules or an oil you can pour over dog food. You can also try hydorcortisone cream for the really bad spots, but some dogs will just lick it off. We also use oatmeal dog shampoo. You can get prednisone prescriptions at the vet, but only for temporary use. If you use it for too long, the dog can get cataracts, our vet told us he could take it all his life, which turned out to be wrong, our 4 year old dog has a cataract now. Please ask a vet before you start your dog on benadryl, obviously, our vet doesnt always know best.

You can give them a bath with lavender based shampoo. You can also put vegetable oil or olive oil in their food.
