The merits are increasing confidence, demerits are when young women are made to feel they need to put too much on and their natural attributes (sometimes more appealing) are hidden. Natural cosmetics are mineral based powders etc which are better for the skin (enables it to breath), some cosmetic companies use flower oils, fruit extracts which are also beneficial to the skin and some actually resolve oily skin and/or dry skin problems
