The main difference between a body mist and an eau de toilette is the length of time that the scent lingers on your skin. Generally speaking, an eau de toilette scent will last for a few hours, whereas a body mist's scent will fade after an hour or two.
This means your scent will be heavier- a perfume. Eau de Toilette means your scent will be lighter- a body mist

steam and mist are not the same thing
Steam is the gaseous form of water that is created when water is heated to its boiling point. Mist, on the other hand, is composed of tiny water droplets suspended in the air. Steam is hot and rapidly dissipates, while mist is cool and often lingers in the air.
Mist is a collection of tiny water droplets suspended in the air and is visible to the naked eye, while water vapor is the gaseous state of water and is not visible. Mist forms when water droplets condense from water vapor in the air, typically when warm, moist air cools rapidly.
