US 6 is a US womens 7, in the UK they are size for size. But remember toe shape ... size is the size of the tooling to produce the shoes, not foot length. Bizarre I know but we are stuck with it! Toe allowancecs vary from manufacturer depending on their fit characteristics. Most men would not tolerate a womans fitting (sorry but fact of life) so you may want to size up a little.

In the UK a 7 is a 7 men's or women's. Men's will just be a bit wider.
Generally men's shoe size are around a size to two half sizes larger than women's shoes. A men's size 6.5 is equivalent to a women's size 8.
The general rule is to take the men's size and add two to get the women's shoe size. That would mean that a men's size 6 is a women's size 8.
A size 12 women's shoe typically converts to a size 10.5 in men's shoes. This is based on the general rule that there is about a 1.5 size difference between women's and men's shoe sizes. However, it's always recommended to try on shoes whenever possible, as sizing can vary by brand and style.

There is a 1 1/12 size difference between men's and women's shoes. For example a mens size 6 is a women's size 7 1/2.
