He did an ad for Revlon's Chaz in 1980. That's the first time I saw him - I remember☺
There are 3 basic types of fragrance which are really just 3 different levels of potency. Oil is the strongest, also called essence. eau de parfum is the next strongest which is what good perfume is. The weakest is eau de toilette. Personally I stay away from eau de toilette because it wears off quickly and you have to use more of it.
Yes indeed. They use the musk from a skunk or a civet cat as a constituent that carries the scent of the perfume. The distilled water and types of oil that are in perfume will not hold the perfume's scent for very long at all, so they use the skunk/cat oil because the main compound in the musk (butyl mercaptan) holds a scent for a very long time. If you have ever been sprayed by a skunk, or know someone who has been sprayed by a skunk, you should understand that the smell lasts for several days. Perfumes usually do not last that long though, because the amount of musk is very little and very deluded. So, perfume might last a couple days as opposed to a weeks or so, but at least that means you're not wearing as much skunk piss as you originally thought. isn't that comforting?
I don't know that there is such a thing as the "musk family." The origins and most common source of musk oil are from the male Musk Deer. Other animals can be a source of musk oil: the muskrat, the musk ox, and the musk duck are a few.
The oils used in perfume, whether it be patchouli or another variety, can serve many purposes. The oil can help with the longevity of the perfume's scent on the wearer, it can provide a nurturative effect to the skin, and in some cases can add its own unique scent into the perfume's particular blend.

Musk oil can come from three sources. It can come from plants, animals or synthetic sources. Traditionally musk oil comes from male musk deer.
