The flip, the French roll, and pageboy all carried over, but with the added volume of the "bouffant," which referred to any hairstyle teased or brushed to volume on the crown. A bouffant hairstyle could be bobbed, with shorter ends, or have shoulder-length ends curled up and out (flip) or under (pageboy); it could also be pinned up in the back (French roll) or on top. Many popular hairstyles were achieved with wigs or hairpieces added to the natural hair.
