I did a science project on this and came to a conclusion that shiny (or glossy) nail polish lasts better and longer than matte nail polish. The brand I used was Sinful Colors.

Matte
A chalkboard has matte surface, which is non-reflective and not shiny.
Matte paper can be used for many things. People who are printing pictures will often use matte paper if they don't want a shiny glossy look. Matte paper doesn't have that shiny look to it.
A matte surface is non-reflective. It is the opposite of shiny.
The opposite of shiny is matte or dull.
Non-shiny
Matte surfaces have a non-reflective finish, appearing dull and not shiny. They do not produce a glare or reflection of light, unlike glossy or shiny surfaces.
To dull a shiny painted surface, you can lightly sand it with fine-grit sandpaper to create a matte finish. Alternatively, you can apply a matte or satin topcoat over the shiny surface to reduce its glossiness.
Shiny
Slate is typically dull in appearance. It has a matte finish and does not have a shiny or reflective surface.
