Rastafarians wear dreadlocks as a symbol of their spiritual beliefs and cultural identity. The hairstyle represents a connection to the Lion of Judah, a symbol of strength and resistance, and signifies their rejection of Babylonian oppression and materialism. Dreadlocks also embody a commitment to living a natural lifestyle, aligning with the Rastafarian principle of embracing one's natural form. Additionally, the style reflects their deep connection to African heritage and the rejection of Western beauty standards.
A Ras...being from Rastafri...or Rasta...most well say Ras or I ...from the term I & I..the frist rasta's are from nya bingi's ..then bobo ashanti came after or bobo dreads...not all rasta's have dreads or locks...now some say dread is a derogatory term but lots of notible rasta's use this term..like bob marley natty dread...but to me its more of meaning dread upon babylon...so rasta's dreads are locks to show babylon their roots to africa and their decendents from africa ..
the questions confusing. but bob Marley grew his dreads from a young age, possibly from birth. (not sure) many rastas grow up in rasta culture so grow dreads from very young ages.
They just let them grow; cutting your hair is against the Rastafarian way of life.
a jamaican rasta is a rasta who belives in haile selassie
because most people don't understand dreadlocks, they only associate them with rasta culture, which many rastas support the use of marijuana as a sacrement. but not all rastas smoke that too is a stereotype.
