Well that is purely a matter of opinion. I prefer the baroque artwork of St. Peters, or the paintings of Rembrandt over modern art any day. but not everyone does. so here is what i know on the art itself.

One: Baroque artwork always has a sorce of light. Whether sunlight, lamp light, whatever. Even in sculpture there is a light source.

Two: Baroque art drew on the Renaissance style, by making realistic, if sometimes slightly exaggerated people. The Fontana del Moro Roma by Bernini shows hugely exaggerated muscle strain. while yes, the central figure is anatomically correct, but he shows more muscular strain then a normal human would.

Three: Baroque art work is heavy on symbolism. Many paintings and statues show slight hints at what it is supposed to represent. Some of these can be found in paintings by Rubens or Rembrandt.
