Will nail polish get you high?

You cannot get "high" per se, but you will feel light headed and dizzyness.

This is because you are being poisoned.

nail polish contains the following ingredients:

• Toluene
• Butyl acetate
• Ethyl acetate
• Dibutyl phthalate

All of those four chemicals are actually poisonous if either digested or inhaled.

You feel dizzy and light-headed after sniffing nail polish because your brain is being "shocked" by the solvent chemicals above, causing damage to it.

It is not a "high".

Sniffing nail polish once or occasionally can lead to:

• Drowsiness
• Balance problems
• Stupor
• Eye irritation
• Confusion
• Nausea & vomiting

Sniffing nail polish excessively can lead to:

• Bladder damage
• Kidney damage
• Gastrointestinal damage
• Damage to the retina and corona of the eyes leading to short-sightedness, permanent blurry vision or complete blindness
• Chest pain
• Irregular heartbeat leading to future heart problems, including heart cancer and heart attack
• Difficulty breathing leading to Asthma or complete shut-down of the lungs (respiratory arrest)
• Hallucinations
• Seizures

The vapours from the nail polish prevent oxygen entering your body, because your brain tells your lungs to reject the air you breathe in with the vapours in an attempt to prevent the vapours entering your bloodstream. This can lead to shortness of breath which can cause blackouts.

Starving the brain of oxygen frequently will cause a coma and potentially death.

So, in short-

Nail polish does not make you high, but you will feel dizzy and light-headed, which is what people mistake for a high, when, it actually isn't.

Trying to find ways to get "high" is not normal behaviour. You'll most likely end up damaging your body beyond repair. When that happens - remember you'll have to live with that damage for the rest of your life.

You don't get high off nail polish remover. You get dead off it. If it doesn't cause your heart to stop, it will dissolve your brain--especially if the nail polish remover in question contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone, which is famous for destroying people's brains.

Inhalants are the worst class of drug you can tangle with--they're MUCH worse than even meth. (And meth is really bad.) There is absolutely no reason to do inhalants.

When you start getting that "dizzy" feeling. When I sniff nail polish it usually takes me about 5-7 minutes depending on the type of nail polish. Better yet, nail polish REMOVER is what gets me high.

thats where your wrong... yung adults like to get high! or maybe even drunk but thats not a reason, right? i think its to relieve whatever is on the persons mind... im not saying that this is a good thing but like Bob Marley said... "Herb is the healing of the nation, Alcohol is the destruction." tell me im wrong if i am but i know im right... i cant know everybodies stories but i know mine, i was sexually abused at the age of seven years old. i have nightmares still to this day. i was planning on killing myself about three years ago today and i knew it would hurt everyone around me if i did it but it would make life so much easier but i didnt do coz i knew i could help another little kid that was on the same boat as i was... because you can never forget! but i thought of everyone that saw me as the weird kid at school on monday morning. i saw everybody hate the way i was. but i learned from it and i thought i would never get over it but the truth is you cant get over it you just make room for all of the BS that goes on around you. so im not saying drugs are good but they have helped me... and i think they can help someone else too.

I don't think so. I love nail varnish and use it a lot and I don't get high but I've never actually inhaled it as I wouldn't say it's safe or recommended.
