You have screwed up in that case. Avoid getting anything on a new tattoo besides non-scented lotion. And yes taking showers and such is alright, just dont scrub it very hard for the first week or so.

It is best not to use Aveeno on a new tattoo. If the tattoo is still fresh it is best to use Aquaphor or A&D ointment.
