I've had over 50 UTI's in my life (I know that's a lot!), but I'm finally seeing a urologist because of complications I've had. Anyway, the reason I got the UTI's was from having sex. The bacteria was pushed into my urethra and into my bladder, causing the infection. I would suggest that you at least wait a few days after finishing the course of antibiotics. Also, if you do decide to have sex anyway, have your partner and yourself wash 'down there' before engaging in any sexual activity. If you keep getting UTI's regardless of the washing and so on like I did, then your doctor can prescribe an antibiotic that you take before sex to rid your bladder of any bacteria.

A plasmid is a small loop of DNA that contains genetic information to help bacteria perform functions such as making use of unusual food sources, resisting antibiotics meant to prohibit growth, or carrying the genes necessary to transfer DNA from one bacterium to another.
They can acquire genes through one of ways: mutations, transduction, transformation or conjugation.Mutations to DNA can occur at any time and might change the structure of the proteins produced but these are rare events. Transduction is the transfer of DNA from one bacterium to another through the action of viruses. Certain species of bacteria can ingest DNA segments, known as plasmids, from their surroundings and incorporate the plasmids into their own chromosomes in a process called transformation. Conjugation is the bacterial equivalent of sex. It involves physical contact between two cells, possibly via a bridging structure called a pilus.
when two or more characteristics are inherited, individual hereditary factors assort independently during gamete production, giving different traits an equal opportunity of occurring together.
a wrinkled retina is another lay term for Macular Pucker. A thin layer of scar tissue in response to healing the area of irritation. Most likely occurring with normal aging. Rare significant visual damage occurring. Normal traction or pulling of the retina resulting in microscopic damage to its inner surface. All the terms used to describe the fact that there is a layer of thin scar tissue on the surface of the macula which resulting in mechanical wrinklingand distortion of the retina. In most cases no treatment is recommended for macular pucker. Repair of the macular pucker or epiretinal membrane is accomplished through use of vitreoretinal surgery. Antibiotics were once naturally occurring substances produced by an organism to inhibit the growth of another organism. But now most antibiotics are semisynthetic-modified chemically from original compounds found in nature, as is the case with beta-lactams (which include the penicillins, produced by fungi in the genus Penicillium, the cephalosporins, and the carbapenems). Some antibiotics are still produced and isolated from living organisms, such as the aminoglycosides, and others have been created through purely synthetic means: the sulfonamides, the quinolones, and the oxazolidinones.

Two antibiotics used as medicine to cure a variety of diseases caused by bacteria are Penicillin and Gentamicin. Both require a prescription from a physician.
