Any warmblooded animal can get a fever. The raised temperature is the body's way of attempting to kill the organism infecting it by making the environment too uncomfortable for the organism to live. A fever, in any mammal, is a fairly reliable sign of illness and if your cat has a fever you should take it to the vet immediately. It probably needs antibiotics.
