You can suffer from a leg weakness with either having sudden cramps , or having weak bones aat the knee joint. Or not having enough muscle tone or low amounts of cartilage Leg weakness can occur from - sciatica - bulging discs in lower back - leprosy - nerve palsy of leg (common peroneal nerve injury) - diabetes There are a plethora of causes depending on associated symptoms that one could have like back ache (bulging disc), tingling numbness(sciatica), elevated blood sugar (diabetes).
Sciatica normally refers to the painful or dull tingling, or even a burning sensation, in the leg due to the spinal nerve being pinched and causing problems in the leg.
my leg is not numb and cold. however, if your leg is numb and cold, it could be for any number of reasons. lack of circulation could be a cause. if it continues for an extended amount of time, i would recommend seeing a doctor.
If you are experiencing sharp pain and a burning condition in your right leg, this could indicate a problem with your lower back. This pain is commonly referred to as sciatica.
Sciatica is a painful condition caused by inflammation of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve runs through the buttocks (a nerve goes through each buttock, or butt cheek) and causes pain from that buttock down the back of the leg (thigh). It is absolutely NOT 'contagious'. It usually develops after a low back injury or strain.
Sciatica.
Poor circulation is one cause of this condition. The poor circulation could be caused by serious conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, or morbid obesity (or all three). Overuse of NSAIDs (Motrin, Aleve, aspirin, etc.) can cause very easy bruising. A reaction to statins can cause leg weakness and aching, especially in the great muscles of the leg. Poor footwear and posture can also cause leg weakness and aching.
Sciatica
When your leg goes to sleep, a condition called paresthesia, it's because the blood circulation has been interrupted to your leg. What I usually do is reposition my body so that circulation is restored to my leg, then try not to move the leg as circulation is restored. Movement will cause pain and tingling during recovery from paresthesia, and it is not necessary to restore circulation (beyond moving to restore circulation).

Depending on what you were just doing, there's a lot of things that could cause numbness in the leg. A real common cause of that sensation is if you had just shaved your legs, or if you were sitting in an awkward position.
Time to go to the doctor! (#1 guess: poor circulation -- but who knows).
Yes - depending on the severity. In many cases, amputation is unfortunately required to ensure that the limb does not become gangrenous.
